Place

Humanscale envisions manufacturing that conserves natural resources and supports human health. As previously disturbed areas are restored, nature's functions are invited back into a healthy interface with the built environment.

Our Facility

After reviewing the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) species report to learn about the habitat surrounding our Piscataway, NJ facility, we realized that Humanscale's manufacturing facility does not directly contribute a threat to recognized endangered species in the area.

Responsible Place
& Habitat Impact

Manufacturing facilities and all material inputs cannot be located in or extracted from habitats where there are endangered species unless there is an appropriate provision for the protection of the species.

Humanscale actively contributes to an organization that prioritizes the preservation of ecosystems: World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Humanscale CEO and Founder Robert King has been a member of WWF's National Council for more than 15 years. Humanscale's donations in 2015 exceed the Living Product Challenge imperative requirements.

In 2008, Humanscale partnered with WWF to restore the once rich ecosystem of the Eastern Plains in Cambodia, an area suffering from intense poaching. We have thankfully shut down poaching, and virtually all species have shown significant recovery with the exception of tigers. They have not been seen in the area for several years

In April 2016, after years of research and lobbying work, the Cambodian government announced the world's first transnational tiger reintroduction plan. You can learn more here.

Cambodia's Eastern Plains

The program focuses on the Eastern Plains of Cambodia in the Phnom Prich Wildlife Sanctuary and the Mondulkiri Protected Forest, and began developing after the Khmer Rouge guerilla warfare ended in 1999 with a peace deal.
